Nintendo Switch Pro Controller - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition at Target! r/NintendoSwitch The central hub for all news, updates, rumors, and topics relating to the Nintendo Switch.
One of my Pro Controllers recently stopped working - it appeared to be entirely out of battery. I didn't think anything of it and plugged it in to charge, but no charging light came on, and it remained unresponsive. My other Pro Controller was charging fine over the same Switch/dock/cables, so I was able to elminate those as potential causes.
My favorite alternative has been the 8bitdo Pro 2, for about $40 instead of $70. Do note you can't use it to wake the console or I believe scan amiibo. Everything else it can do, and it has a better d-pad than the Switch pro controller. There is an 8bitdo ultimate that is slightly better, but it is also the same price as the Switch pro controller.
I got my own pro controller about 4 months ago, and it’s honestly the best controller I have ever had for any console. EDIT: read your comment about being about 50/50 docked and TV. All the more reason to get a pro controller - developing Joy-Con drift is an eventuality, not a maybe, unless you just don’t use Joy-Cons much.
Go to Steam Settings --> Controller Settings. Add Switch controller in Steam. Go to Steam Library --> "Add non-steam game" Add EA Play (NOT FIFA 22) Open EA Play via Steam. Open FIFA through EA Play. Press Shift + Tab in FIFA and should now bring up Steam overlay and the controller settings are therefore active.
For example, without the setting checked the south button will be the A button because that is xinput default. With the setting checked and while using a switch pro controller, the south button will automatically register as the B button and the east button will be made the A button, matching up with the pro controller's layout.
I'd like to use my Switch Pro Controller to play games in the cloud on the Xbox app, as my only PC-native controller is cabled. I tried using BetterJoy, as many people suggest, which works wonderfully when the controller is connected through the USB cable.
The pro controller’s buttons feel loose, and it’s harder for me to tell when they’ve been actuated. It has analog triggers. You can even map a stick axis to them for driving games that put throttle/brake on one. That plus the app that lets you program macros, remap buttons, etc and IMO it’s solidly superior to the pro controller.
This is basically a bunch of driver files that tricks your computer into thinking the pro controller is an xbox360 controller. For some reason Project64 does not work correctly with pro controller unless you trick it. Downloading that program is kind of a pain to be honest but it's not terrible.
