The Uptown Theater is in midtown. Like kcmo says, stay at the Plaza/Westport or Crown Center or the Power and Light District downtown. There is noplace to stay really around the Uptown, and it's not the best part of town either. But the Plaza/Westport or Crown Center or P&L District are all pretty close, just in different directions.

Yes, there was a medieval dinner theatre. Seems like it was in Waldo and may have been at the Waldo Astoria, although that doesn’t seem quite right because I think the medieval place had a medieval theme all the time.
None of the DART stations in the Downtown or Uptown are park and ride stations. Uptown does have an historic district - State Thomas. It is basically what's left before it was scrapped clean for redevelopment projects in the 80s that failed. That's why the newer development is low rise and dense in that part of Uptown.

Uptown: Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, U St Downtown: Chinatown, Capital Hill, Penn Quarter, Dupont(I think this is considered downtown) I currently live uptown in Columbia Heights, but may be moving to Capital Hill.(need to decide in the next day or two) I figure that this may actually help my decision a little bit.

I know the OP was asking about going from Ballantyne to Uptown but I'd like to mention how the commute from Uptown back to Ballantyne can be much worse depending on time and route. Never consider taking 485 between 77 and South Blvd unless it is past 7pm.
