Plant City is an incorporated city in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States, approximately midway between Brandon and Lakeland along Interstate 4. It is part of the Tampa Bay area . The population was 39,764 at the 2020 census .
Ruby Curry was born to Viola Curry Greene and Lawrence Curry in Bealsville, Florida, [3] where she grew up in a community formed by freed slaves, including Curry's great grandmother, Mary Reddick, who founded the community's school. [4] Known as Miss Ruby, she was an evangelical minister in Paterson, New Jersey, for 25 years. [5]
Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida and Plant City, Florida are named after him. The Henry B. Plant Museum is located in the main building of the former Tampa Bay Hotel on the campus of the University of Tampa. The building is now called Plant Hall in his honor.

The William Glover Negro School or Glover School was a segregated school for Black children in Bealsville near Plant City, Florida. It is located at 5110 Horton Road. On November 29, 2001, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
