This is a list of musical compositions or pieces of music that have unusual time signatures. "Unusual" is here defined to be any time signature other than simple time signatures with top numerals of 2, 3, or 4 and bottom numerals of 2, 4, or 8, and compound time signatures with top numerals of 6, 9, or 12 and bottom numerals 4, 8, or 16.
A 2003 issue of music tech magazine first lists the simple time signatures 2/2, 2/4, 2/8, 3/2, 3/4, 3/8, 4/2, 4/4, 4/8, and the compound (explicitly mentioned as triplet-based) time signatures 6/4, 6/8, 6/16, 9/4, 9/8, 9/16, 12/4, 12/8, 12/16, and subsequently claims "we've listed all the popular time signatures". I think this should be a ...
Conversely, at slow tempos, the beat might even be a smaller note value than the one enumerated by the time signature. [example needed] Mathematically the time signatures of, e.g., 3 4 and 3 8 are interchangeable. In a sense all simple triple time signatures, such as 3 8, 3 4, 3 2, etc.—and all compound duple times, such as 6 8, 6 16 and so ...
By way of example, Federico Mompou wrote various pieces with no time signature, such as: the first of the Impresiones Intimas (the measures contain successively 1, 10, 12, 10, 8, 12, 4 and 2 crotchets); and the 6th Prelude (which has no time signature or bar lines at all).
Some songs on the album feature unusual or unorthodox time signatures. "Get on the Snake", for example, is played in 9/4. "I Awake" uses 4/4, 6/4, 9/8, 11/8, and 14/8. [8] "Gun" features varying tempos, which speed up and slow down over the course of the song. [9] A lot of the songs on the album are tuned down to drop D tuning. [10]
In the case of DT's "Wait for Sleep" I removed it from "41/8" with the following comment: Adding 3 meas. of 5/8, 1 of 4/8, 3 of 6/8 and another of 4/8 into 41/8 isn't how a song's time signature is determined. This song has shifting time sigs, it's not one big long time sig.

Note: Two time signatures in the piece were already listed in both combined unusual signatures and in the respective section (counted as removed, along with 5/4 since it has its own section). One time signature was only in the combined section (counted as moved), and one was listed only in the time signature section, but the wrong one (13/8 ...
