Associazione Calcio Fiorentina, [1] [2] commonly referred to as Fiorentina (pronounced [fjorenˈtiːna]), is an Italian professional football club based in Florence, Tuscany. The original team was founded by a merger in August 1926, while the current club was refounded in August 2002 following bankruptcy.
The club was formed on 29 August 1926 by a merger of CS Firenze and PG Libertas as Associazione Calcio Firenze, and played its first competitive match on 3 October against Pisa. In its place, Florence city council announced the creation of Fiorentina 1926 Florentia, with city mayor Leonardo Domenici as its first president. So the club was promptly re-established in August 2002 as Florentia Viola with a new owner, Diego Della Valle , and was admitted into Serie C2 , the fourth tier of Italian football. [ 1 ]

He appeared for CS Firenze, and then ACF Fiorentina after the merger took place. He also went into football management, firstly as a player-manager at Fiorentina.
