At Slamboree, Meng was randomly paired with Dungeon teammate Hugh Morrus against tag team partner Barbarian and Diamond Dallas Page in the Lethal Lottery tournament to qualify for the Battlebowl battle royal. The Faces of Fear was a professional wrestling tag team of The Barbarian and Meng in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) that existed between 1996 and 1999. The two were first paired together in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as part of The Heenan Family, a heel faction, where Meng was known as Haku.
The next match saw Faces of Fear on separate teams as Meng and The Barbarian were paired with Hugh Morrus and Diamond Dallas Page respectively. Originally, Barbarian was set to team with Bobby Walker, but due to an injury to Walker, Page was a last-minute replacement.
In late 1998, Jimmy Hart reunited Meng, Barbarian and Hugh Morrus to form a new version of his old Continental Wrestling Association stable The First Family. Barbarian would inexplicably turn on Meng during a match in a WCW World Tag Team Championship tournament match on the February 11, 1999 episode of WCW Thunder.
