The Philadelphia Ten, also known as The Ten, was a group of American female artists who exhibited together from 1917 to 1945.The group, eventually numbering 30 painters and sculptors, exhibited annually in Philadelphia and later had traveling exhibitions at museums throughout the East Coast and the Midwest.
The Federal Art Project (1935–1943) of the Works Progress Administration was the largest of the New Deal art projects. [1] As many as 10,000 artists [ 2 ] were employed to create murals, easel paintings, sculpture, graphic art, posters, photography, Index of American Design documentation, theatre scenic design , and arts and crafts.
