Westport (formerly Beall's Landing) is an unincorporated community in Mendocino County, California, United States. [1] It is located on California State Route 1, near the Pacific Ocean, [2] 13 miles (21 km) north of Fort Bragg, [3] and at an elevation of 125 feet (38 m). [1] The first post office at Westport opened in 1879. [3]

Rockport (formerly, Cotineva) [2] is a former settlement in an unincorporated area of Mendocino County, California. [1] It is located 7.25 miles (12 km) north-northwest of Westport, [2] at an elevation of 30 feet (9 m).
Westchester began the 20th century as an agricultural area, growing a wide variety of crops in the dry, farming-friendly climate. The rapid development of the aerospace industry near Mines Field (as the Los Angeles Airport was then known), the move of then Loyola University to the area in 1928, and population growth in Los Angeles as a whole created a demand for housing in the area.
