Christ Church refers to both an Episcopal parish in Matapeake, Maryland and the historic church building in the Stevensville Historic District in Stevensville, Maryland, which the parish occupied from 1880 to 1995, and that is now a Lutheran church. Christ Church Parish was one of the original 30 Anglican parishes in the Province of Maryland.

In the inaugural 1829 boat race there were five rowers from Christ Church. [2] Shortly after the admittance of women a crew was formed and raced for the first time in 1981. More recently three women competed in the 2019 boat race , [ 3 ] and the women's VIII went Head of the River in 2023.

Thomas Bacon, who served as rector from 1746 to 1758, when he moved to All Saints' Parish (Frederick, Maryland), worked diligently to improve religious instruction of slaves and support charity schools. [5] He resigned this parish in favor of Rev. Thornton, and to serve the enormous parish which covered rapidly developing western Maryland. [6]
