Operation Hardtack I was a series of 35 nuclear tests conducted by the United States from April 28 to August 18 in 1958 at the Pacific Proving Grounds. Conducted at the new Pacific Proving Ground , on islands of the Enewetak Atoll , it mounted the devices on large steel towers to simulate air bursts.
Greenwater, a Lawrence Livermore test, was to be fired in Area 19, [10] and was a test of an x-ray laser system. [12] The test was cancelled 16 July 1992. [13] The Greenwater nuclear device had already been assembled at the time of cancellation, and had to be dismantled. [14] A fourth test, Mighty Uncle, was planned for 1993.

The United States's Cresset nuclear test series [1] was a group of 22 nuclear tests conducted in 1977–1978. These tests [ note 1 ] followed the Operation Fulcrum series and preceded the Operation Quicksilver series.
