In 2022, it was announced that All Saints is the best school in York, fifth best School in the North. [6] [5] [4] [3] The school has been serving the Catholic population of York and more broadly Yorkshire (in some form) since 1665, and plays a role in the Catholic education of the region as the only Catholic Secondary school and Sixth Form in York.
In November 2014, it was announced the Governing Body at All Saints Catholic College, and Diocese and Directors of the Multi Academy trust, had decided to consult on the proposal not to recruit new Sixth Form students from September 2015. This meant that the Sixth Form closed in August 2016. [5] [6]
The school is co-educational from years 7 to 11 including the sixth form, All Saints Sixth Form College, for ages 16–19. The school opened in a building costing £23.4m [ 1 ] in February 2013. It is a mixed-faith school that accepts students of all faiths and none.
The school in its present form was founded in September 1976 with the merger of De la Salle College (a grammar school) and St. Paul's school (on the current site). In 1983, the De la Salle site was closed and, along with the closure of St. Peter's RC school, many pupils and staff moved to the All Saints site.
All Saints educates 11- to 16-year-olds, as well as mainly from the town of Dunstable and some surrounding villages. In addition, the school offers further education for 16- to 18-year-olds through its sixth form department.
