The battle of Dak To (Vietnamese: Chiến dịch Đắk Tô - Tân Cảnh) in Vietnam was a series of major engagements of the Vietnam War that took place between 3 and 23 November 1967, [1] in Kon Tum Province, in the Central Highlands of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam).

Charles Joseph Watters (January 17, 1927 – November 19, 1967) was a chaplain in the United States Army and Roman Catholic priest. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery exhibited while rescuing wounded men in the Vietnam War's Battle of Dak To.

The base was originally established in November 1967 during the Battle of Dak To by the 6th Battalion, 29th Artillery.The base is located approximately 8 km southwest of Đắk Tô, east of the Plei Trap Valley along a mountain ridge that runs approximately north-south towards Kontum, during the war this was nicknamed Rocket Ridge.
