Waglan Island is a member of the Po Toi group of islands in Hong Kong. Wagan Lighthouse, a declared monument dating to 1893 stands there. Since 1989 Wagan lighthouse is automated and Wagan Island is uninhabited. The island also hosts a ground of meteorological observation and recording for the Hong Kong Observatory. [1]
The islands are notable for interesting rock formations and open-air seafood restaurants. Po Toi Island has a "haunted house", and some rock carvings supposed to be the epitaph of an emperor who died on or near Po Toi. The first lighthouse in the state was lit in 1822 and the last in 1965 (ignoring automated towers erected later); the oldest surviving structure is the Pooles Island Light and the oldest still active is the Cove Point Light. The tallest extant tower is the Craighill Channel Lower Range Rear Light.
