Ford had the 302 & 351, with the 351 as the ‘performance’ option. Ford’s 302 was down on power when compared with the Holden 308, so they badged the 302 as the 4.9 Lire V8 so as direct comparison was avoided & this stayed until it ceased production in 1983. The 351 was badged the 5.8 Litre V8 & it had no equal from GM-Holden at that time.
