The Manhattan Project (now known as the Manhattan Virtual Classroom) is launched at Western New England College in Springfield, MA as a supplement to classroom courses in February 1997. Students attended lectures in a two-room apartment at 399 Classon Avenue. The kitchen was a laboratory and the parlor was the lecture hall. Among the members of the first class was William D. Anderson, who became the third and longest-serving dean of the college. As enrollment grew, the college moved to larger buildings in 1895 and 1903. [1]
The first group of graduates commenced in 1908 earning their Pharmacy Graduate (Ph.G.) degrees. Upon Dean Benedict's death in 1914, Robert Wilson became the director of the school and remained in that position until 1948. Wilson was named as the Dean of the School of Pharmacy in 1924. The school later changed its name to the College of Pharmacy.

Francis J. O’Brien Building – Opened in 1927, this building is home to lecture halls, research and teaching labs, faculty and administrative offices, and the Throop Pharmacy Museum.
