Visakhapatnam (/ v ɪ ˌ s ɑː k ə ˈ p ʌ t n ə m /; formerly known as Vizagapatam, [17] also known as Vizag, Viśākha or Waltair [1] [18] [19] is the largest and most populous metropolitan city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This made Vizag the only district with 90% urban population in AP.

Visakhapatnam Airport [5] (IATA: VTZ, ICAO: VOVZ), officially known as Visakhapatnam International Airport, is a customs airport in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It also operates as a civil enclave on the Indian Navy airbase, INS Dega. It lies between the city localities of NAD X Road and Gajuwaka. The airport covers an area of 350 acres.
Thotlakonda came into existence along with nearby sites in Visakhapatnam like Bavikonda and Pavurallakonda. The lofty stupas shining during the day, with their light lime plaster and with rows of wick lamps during nights, might have served as guiding landmarks of nautical commuters. There appears to have been no royal patronage for this monastery.
