In 1958, Elizabeth A. Fellows bequeathed the property to Mill Creek Park, together with funds to create a public garden on the site. She died in 1958 at the age of 96 in her home. In 1962, plans of how the garden would be designed came to fruition by Landscape Architect John L. Paolano.
The park features a lodge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that includes a kitchen and a 72-seat dining room. [5] There are two park lakes that accommodate seasonal swimming and hiking trails that lead to Mill Creek Falls, the Pinnacle Mountain summit (two routes), and Table Rock summit.
The park contains a number of sports facilities, including fifteen baseball/softball fields, with dugouts, spectator seating, water fountains, and concessions. [2] [3] Twelve of the fields are lighted. There are also seven soccer/football fields, of which four are lighted. Special events and sporting events are scheduled throughout the year.
