Paul Dye Jr. (December 29, 1925 – January 9, 2020), commonly referred to as Pete Dye, was an American golf course designer and a member of a family of course designers. [1] He was married to fellow designer and amateur champion Alice Dye.

[2] In 1982, Sports Illustrated wrote that Dye had a reputation for transforming "unpromising" land into picturesque and challenging golf courses, that required a style of play called "target golf".
