Oregon Inlet is an inlet along North Carolina's Outer Banks. It joins the Pamlico Sound with the Atlantic Ocean and separates Bodie Island from Pea Island , which are connected by the 2.8-mile (4.5 km) Marc Basnight Bridge that spans the inlet.
Located in Nags Head, North Carolina, it covers a 427-acre (1.73 km 2) [1] area, and includes the tallest active sand dune system in the eastern United States. It is the most visited park within the NC park system. [2] The park is a day-use only park and has no campgrounds.
It crosses the New Inlet bridge onto Pea Island and 11 miles (18 km) further north is the Marc Basnight Bridge over Oregon Inlet, connecting Pea Island to Bodie Island.
