The New Haven District Campground, also known as the Plainville Campground, is a historic Methodist camp meeting site on Gladding Avenue in Plainville, Connecticut.Opened in 1865, the campground was used by Connecticut Methodists to partake in the 19th-century trend of religious and recreational camp meetings, and is now a secular community of summer homes.
Between the entry and the river is the picnic area, with a group camping area just to its south. The contact station and ranger residence is just to its north, separated from the highway by a grassy area. It also includes handicapped restroom facilities. North of the contact station is the campground, with 15 campsites, 4 cabins, and 6 leantos.
Devil's Hopyard State Park is a public recreation area located at the Eightmile River's Chapman Falls in the town of East Haddam, Connecticut. The 1,000-acre (400 ha) state park includes facilities for hiking, fishing, bicycling, picnicking, and camping. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. [3]
The park's campground features 80 campsites. Fish found in 137-acre (55 ha) Hopeville Pond include channel catfish, northern pike, largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and yellow perch. [3] Hopeville Pond was included in an 11-mile bike trail in Connecticut: Rides for the Casual Cyclist. [8]
Strawberry Park is a 75-acre (300,000 m 2) campground located in Preston, Connecticut. The park offers RV and tent sites with water, electricity, and sewer connections. Lots are available for seasonal rental and for sale/lease-to-own. Lodgings such as log cabins, park models and trailer rentals are also available.
