North Dakota State was the defending champion, and successfully defended their title following their defeat of second-seeded South Dakota in the final round. This was the tenth Summit League title for the Bison, who earned the Summit League 's automatic berth to the 2019 NCAA Division I softball tournament with the tournament title.
The Bison finished the 2022 season with a 30-23 record, and a 10-8 record in Summit League play. NDSU played in the Summit League tournament as the 3rd seed. [3] They defeated North Dakota [4] and Omaha, before falling to South Dakota State and then Omaha in the elimination game to end their season in the semifinals.
The 2024 Summit League softball tournament took place from May 8–11, 2024. All six eligible teams of the league's seven (St. Thomas is ineligible) met in the modified double-elimination tournament at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota . The North Dakota Fighting Hawks softball team is a part of the athletic program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They are members of the NCAA Division I Summit League. The program only includes a women's team. The current Fighting Hawks softball head coach is Jordan Stevens.
