Owensboro is a home rule-class city [4] in and the county seat of [5] Daviess County, Kentucky, United States.It is the fourth-most populous city in the state. Owensboro is located on U.S. Route 60 and Interstate 165 about 107 miles (172 km) southwest of Louisville, and is the principal city of the Owensboro metropolitan area.
Kentucky Route 2831 (KY 2831) is a 3.056-mile (4.918 km) state highway in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. It runs from U.S. Routes 60 and 431 in southern Owensboro to West Fifth Street ( KY 2245 ) and Frederica Streets in downtown.
The Owensboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in Kentucky, anchored by the city of Owensboro. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 109,875. In the 2010 Census the population was 114,752.
In Kentucky, US 231 was originally signed as Kentucky Route 71, one of many charter routes of Kentucky's statewide system of highways when it was established in 1929. [5] KY 71 originally ran from downtown Scottsville to downtown Owensboro.
KY 2830 begins at an intersection with KY 144 northwest of Thruston. From this intersection, the highway runs northeast, generally parallel to U.S. Route 60 (US 60) and US 231. KY 2830's first highway intersection is with KY 1831, also known as Wright's Landing Road. KY 2830 continues along a northeast heading alongside a CSX rail line.
Ben Hawes Golf Course and Park (formerly Ben Hawes State Park) is a park located just outside Owensboro, Kentucky, in Daviess County. The park encompasses 297 acres (1.20 km 2), and was named after the former Mayor of Owensboro, Benjamin W. Hawes. [1] It was acquired by the City of Owensboro in 1962. The Park opened Memorial Day in 1964.

This event also extended KY 56 to its eastern terminus at a junction with KY 81. [7] [8] Today, KY 81 has its northern terminus at KY 54's current western terminus at a junction with KY 2831 (formerly US 431). At one time, KY 54 traversed the Yeaman community in northwestern Grayson County. [9] KY 54 was rerouted to bypass that area by 1949. [10]
