Irwin Allen Ginsberg (/ ˈ ɡ ɪ n z b ɜːr ɡ /; June 3, 1926 – April 5, 1997) was an American poet and writer.As a student at Columbia University in the 1940s, he began friendships with Lucien Carr, William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac, forming the core of the Beat Generation.
Ginsberg wrote a part of his moving and mature poem Kaddish at the hotel, and Corso wrote the mushroom cloud-shaped poem Bomb. There is now a small hotel, the four-star Relais du Vieux Paris, at that address. It displays photographs of several Beat personalities and describes itself as "The Beat Hotel". [7]
