What’s the best NH vanity plate you’ve seen? Needs a Homer Simpson sticker for completeness. I've seen this one a few times! Yeah I've seen it once or twice too. They get around! There's a guy in the Hampton area that has EATSQRRL (or something along those lines) and stickers to match and advocate for eating squirrels.
They raised the prices about 20 years ago so less people have them but NH is still one if the cheapest places to get a custom plate. $20 lifetime. Can confirm. NJ actually has 2.5x more (429k) vanity plates than NH (171k), however per capita NH has higher percent of vanity plates (~14% for NH compared to ~7% for NJ).
I requested a vanity plate with 6 letters, the interface did not show all 6 on the preview. It did confirm the correct 6 letters, just not on virtual plate. It also did not state that the plate was available. I received a letter about a week later confirming the request and stating that if it’s available I will receive plate and reg in 4-6 weeks.
The plate order is accepted and is still in queue for production at this time. Based on our timeline, you may receive them between the months of May thru August 2024. Due to staffing and supply chain issues, the production and issuance of personalized license plate orders are taking approximately 9-12 months from the date order was placed.
The states it's just a lottery system and you can put your name on a list for one. NH vanity plates are not allowed to have zeros. That being said, they're also required to have at least 2 characters that aren't the letter 'O' so this wouldn't be a valid plate by the <current> rules at least.
Took me a while to figure out the reference. I've had 2 different vanity plates on my 1966 Springtime Yellow Ford Fairlane 500XL over the years: "BUTTAH", and "500XLNT". Best one of seen was posted on r/pics a while back, it was a NH plate in MA that read IPVPIRL.
In summer of 2004 I checked the online NH DMV license plate web site to see if BIG PAPI had been scooped up yet. The website said it was available. So I scoot down to my local DMV (Salem), and wait in line. Walk up to the counter and request my BIG PAPI license plate.
As for context, I did have front license plates installed without drilling holes into the bumper using the sto n sho front license plate bracket. However, it was really low to the ground and the driver recently hit it on the sidewalk and broke the entire contraption.
Vanity plates are pretty cheap in NH and help with figuring out which salt covered mid gen Subaru is yours. New Hampshire wisely decided that getting a reasonable amount from a large number of people is better that getting lots of $$$ from a few rich ones. We also have minimal restrictions on plate content.
Reply. ktnh. • 10 mo. ago. It took me a while to get mine (Veteran, Vanity, Decal plates), and when it arrived... it was the wrong plate (no place for decal). I called and explained, and they fixed it quickly. It took about 4-6 weeks for the original (incorrect) plates to arrive (late summer 2020 during COVID year 1).
