Wexford County is a county in the Northern Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 33,673. [3] The seat of Wexford County is Cadillac, which is also the county's largest city. [4] Wexford County is largely covered by the Manistee National Forest, and thus is heavily wooded.
Cadillac Public Library. The Cadillac Carnegie Public Library, now the Wexford County Historical Society Museum, was constructed as a Carnegie Library located at 127 Beech Street in Cadillac, Michigan. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1980 [2] and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The community began as a railway station along the Ann Arbor Railroad in 1888. For state purposes, the Manistee County portion was named Churchills within Cleon Township, and the Wexford County portion was named Harlan and given a post office on March 31, 1890. The post office closed briefly in 1906 but remained in operation until July 15, 1935.
