I made a recipe similar to this the other day and we just steamed the veggies, (we added carrots and cauliflower) in the microwave and mixed them with the meat before serving.
Hosin, shaoxing rice wine, and oyster sauce. Mainly the oyster sauce for beef+broccoli. That's in addition to the usual garlic/green onion/ginger and soy sauce. Maybe just a tad bit of sesame oil too. If you like it pungent, get some red chiles and sechuan peppercorns too.
