Running diskpart, I do the following commands: list volume. to which I see volume 1 is the CDFS filesystem I am trying to delete, so then. select volume 1. so far so good. but then: delete volume. is where the trouble is, because I get the following output: DiskPart cannot delete volumes on removable media.

1. you need to burn the CD in "Joliet" File System. When you burn the CD in "Joliet", the CD will show up as CDFS under properties. For example, if you are using CD Creator, go to FILE / Project Properties. Under File System, select Joliet. Burn your media and the file system will be CDFS. Share.
2. That is not going to work. The device presents itself to the computer as a USB connected CD-drive with a (read-only) CD-disc stuck in the drive. And Windows will only let you operate commands on that CD that are valid for CD-drives. A USB CD-drive is a totally different type of USB device as a USB connected (hard)disk.
