Oak Island (South Carolina) Oak Island, also known as the William Seabrook, Jr. House, is a historic plantation house located at Edisto Island, Charleston County, South Carolina. It was built about 1828–1831, and is a 21⁄2 -story, five-bay, rectangular, central-hall, frame, weatherboard-clad residence with a projecting two-story rear pavilion.
Former South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel purchased the 3,440-square foot house in 2006 because he heard there was an effort to subdivide the 60-acre property, and he wanted to save it. [8] The property was listed for sale in June 2019, at a list price of $3,950,000 (~$4.64 million in 2023).
