In the audio commentary of the episode, David X. Cohen states that this episode was the only one to which he gave his artistic input. When Fry, Bender, and Flexo are at a robot strip club, a robot stripper with a strange gear-oriented design can be seen. Cohen explains that he drew the robot himself and took great pride in doing so.
The scene was removed after the creators decided it would irk fans and render the later episode "Bendless Love" (in which Bender impersonates Flexo in order to prove that Angleyne still loves Flexo) entirely incomprehensible. The episode features the first appearance of The Robot Mafia, Donbot, Clamps, and Joey Mousepad.
Bender (as Flexo) succeeds in seducing Angleyne, but when she discovers his identity, Bender rushes off to kill Flexo. Bender arrives at the bending plant where Flexo is working the night shift, and starts a fight. Meanwhile, in the crane control booth, the Robot Mafia moves an unbendable girder into position above Bender and Flexo.
Flexo is mistaken for Bender and is arrested for that crime. Critics have called Flexo's appearance in this episode one of the "Great Moments" in Futurama. [57] He returns in "Bendless Love" in which Bender briefly dates Flexo's ex-wife, Anglelyne, and impersonates Flexo. Flexo is targeted by the Robot Mafia because of this.
