The road crossing I-95 leading to the park's former entrance, once renamed "Marco Polo Park Boulevard", reverted to its original name of "Old Dixie Highway". The Brown Bay Plantation Historic District, is a 30 acres (12 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The listing included 19 contributing sites. [1] Behind the beach of Brown Bay are the masonry remains of a large plantation house, a horsemill, and a sugar factory built between 1780 and 1800.
