The Templo de San José (Temple of Saint Joseph) is a church building in Mazatlán, Mexico. It is the oldest religious building in the city, and its construction dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but the general consensus establishes the year 1837 and it took 5 years to complete. [1]
It opened on February 22, 1958. [1] The church has vivid stained glass windows, arched vaults and a bell tower more than 70 m (230 ft) high. [2] Before the founding of the Mazatlán Diocesan Seminary in 1959, seminarians slept in the Cristo Rey Parish, ate at the Mazatlán Sanatorium, among other temporary places. [3]
