The top for my TJ is in poor condition and I think it is time for a refresh. Its not a daily driver and I plan to store the Jeep in a barn. The old rule was always go Bestop because its worth the money, but its been over a decade since I bought a top for a TJ and perhaps things have changed.
Depends on the year of the top, if it is 03 and newer - use your existing brackets on the Jeep. If the top is 02 down you will need to change the brackets that came with the top. Take out the 2 screws and the plastic pieces will slide off the bracket with a little help.
The original owner never used the soft top and it must have always been in the jeep, both soft and hard top together 06 TJ Wranger | 4.0L (sixer) Auto | 31" Copper STT on 15" Black MickyT's | 2.5" Lift
The seal for the rear windows on the hard top is on the bottom of the rear window, not the leading edge of the tailgate. I have had three Wrangler hard tops ('93 YJ, '15 and '17 JKU) and two Wrangler soft tops ('91 YJ and '03 TJ) all purchased new except for the TJ and none ever came with any seal on the top edge of the tailgate.

mine isnt in right and there is a gap on the tailgat that let a ton of water into the jeep when it rained tonight. thank god a buddy of mine gave me a cover that i have on the jeep to keep it dry. what i did before the cover was put a piece of pip insulation on the top ridge of the tailgate and that sealed it tight but i know that i shouldnt ...
No my estimate for the standard top (aka sailcloth) is 8-10 years, but can be extended by care and garage parking. This is based on my experience with the material on my TJ. The premium (twill) top would have an expected life more in the 12 to 15 year range (my estimate). The causes of failure in the top are use, sun (ultraviolet rays) and heat.
BTW, I read the soft top help sticky and it was very informative, but couldn't answer my question reading through it. 2013 JK 6 Speed MT / 35" BF Mud Terrain KM2 / 3.5" Pro Comp Lift / Fox 2.0 Reservoir Shocks / 3.73 Gears / Rubicon Xtreme Wheels / Warn Elite Front Bumper / Warn Zeon 10S Winch / Poison Spyder Rear Bumper / Powerbar NX ...
I'm a new user and this is my first post. I did a search for adjustments on the factory soft top and couldn't find any matching results. I bought a 2 year old factory premium top from a guy on craigs list and installed it last weekend. Every thing looks pretty good. I'm having an issue with the catches in the front.
