I just noticed that my SteelSeries driver (Engine) has automatically updated to a new GG software ("thanks" for asking your customers, whether they needed this in a first place, mhh..), which includes a shitton of features that I hate and will never ever use.
Genuine question: why does steelseries want us to use thier GG software. Why not just have steelseries engine as one peice of software and make GG available to whoever want to use it. I dont understand, GG is just really slow and buggy and sometimes requires me to restart my whole computer just to change myy damm RGB. Archived post.
Naw steelseries software is irritating they make nice headsets with alot of features. I have the nova arctis pro wireless headset it's nice and all but the mic is terrible alot of static and popping. I use the headset mostly for work and casual gaming for ps5. Everytime a new firmware update comes out it adds and takes away from the headset it ...
If it was a new product by steelseries, I also wouldn't have a problem with it, because it would be my decision to buy it or leave it. But this change affects all the hardware and its uses. And I think that the user should be in control over the hardware they bought. This is only my opinion and I would like to hear some of your thoughts and ...
Personally I use Game Bar or GeForce Experience. With a low end machine, your best option is tweaking Game Bar. I'd at least change video quality and audio quality, as both are pretty low by default. You have to manually take clips, but you can change clip length, and hotkey to take clips (win+alt+g).
Uninstalling GG is the easy fix, but the KB(Apex Pro TK) tends to 'forget' your RGB profile and macros slowly overtime when working from onboard memory VS GG/Engine. I also really like the optical switches and don't have $100+ to blow on a competitor with better/less bloatware-ish software.
Its not the software, its the hardware and drivers. GG works great with logitech hardware. I used it for months before buying a steelseries headset and it was flawless. With the SS headset its constant problems and doesn't really sound great. Is more comfortable than the Logitech and the mic is a little better though.
Support from SteelSeries has not been helpful - just bluntly suggested to reinstall the software, which, of course, didn't help a bit. But in spite I couldn't let this go - I tried everything I could come up with: reinstalling older and latest versions of Steelseries engine Tried to debug OpenHardware libraries
But it's also not just Steelseries GG. I never had a "Gaming/Driver/Settings Software" that just worked, be it Logitech, Razer etc. But in my opinion, Steelseries is the "best" one so far. The only issue that I have is that the Sonar Service randomly stops working, but turning it off and on again fixes the issue.
