Catskill is a village and county seat of Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 3,745 at the 2020 census, down from 4,081 at the 2010 census, [ 2 ] down from 4,392 in 2000. The village is in the northeastern part of the town of Catskill .
Cole painted numerous scenes of the Catskill landscape around Cedar Grove, including such well-known paintings as Lake with Dead Trees, and Kaaterskill Falls.
