Yes, it's a Gen5 in all areas except for the flared mag well & cutout in the frame (missing in the 19X) and a unique ejector in the 19X. "To thine ownself be true." I think one of the guys who died their 19X frame black did just that. And yes, Gen5 so it's fully 19X compatible.
Looks like the best method is to buy a Gen 3 19 and the 19L slide and barrel. You cannot have a 19L with a 17 frame if you want a true 19L (if there is such a thing). Also with buying the 19 and adding the 19L slide and barrel, you can sell the OEM 19 slide and barrel. In the end, everything is OEM except the 19L slide.
I was hoping for an extended dust cover for the g26 frame to accommodate the longer g19 slide but apparently, it's more complicated than that. Actually, it's not. The 19 complete slide goes right on the 26 lower with zero modification. You'll have a half-inch of exposed guide rod but in no way hinders function.

In Oct 2019 I won a G-19 Gen 5 without front serrations at my local Cop Shop. I wanted one with the front serrations, but they didn’t have one. Two weeks later they had the G-19/5 with FS in stock, just my luck. I put my grandsons name on it, he turns 8 at the end of the month, so it will be another 10 years before he gets it.
Need a 19LS barrel (or Glock 17 Gen 5 barrel). Even OEM barrels shoot better than I do but those are not seen in the wild yet, separate from their original slides. My options currently are: KKM $175. Lone Wolf $138. Victory First / (Brownells collab) $153 (was at $125 when I first saw it, d'oh) Have heard mixed reviews on Lone Wolf.

This is my G19 slide on my G26 frame when I was playing with the idea of taking a 19 and cutting the frame to a 26 height. I was playing with the idea after I had done the same quite successfully w/ a 17 cut a 19's height.
15403 posts · Joined 2009. #5 · Jun 11, 2022. OTOH. The gen5 G17 upper will fit on the gen5/4 G19 or g4/5 G26 frames, and hand cycles and dry fires fine. I have not fired them in those states, but it dry fits.
A Glock slide is not a "dust cover" its a slide. And in a Glock the barrel to slide fit is what controls the accuracy, not the slide to frame fit like a 1911. Notice the old style narrow slide lock spring in the G19, which was subject to breakage. The distance between the red lines on the frame is the lockup.
You can use Gen 4 uppers on a Gen 5 if you change the backplate to either Gen 5 OEM and some aftermarket plates will fit Gen 1-5 with the wider square-cut. People were using Gen 4 Glock 23 uppers on the G45 before the Gen 5 G23 even came out. Some are also cutting off the right-hand side lever of the ambi slide stop to better match the single ...
