The addition of more hardener and solvent to the mix dilutes the flattening effects of DX685. PPG does not recommend applying their products over competitive primers or adding more than 4 ounces of DXR80 to 32 ounces of DAR color. Adding too much catalyst can cause slower dry times and weaken the topcoat filmbuild.

I bought a gallon of paint, and im going to thin it and add hardener. Will that be enough paint for decent coverage? I just dont want to run short half way through. Thanks
I'm sorry, it was dupont "Centari" acrylic enamel, with matching catalyst, mine was "Nova AH1000, fast dry high gloss hardener", but any similar hardener would be fine, including any dupont has to offer. I used a little centari "medium" reducer, not much kept the paint pretty "thick" to flow out without runs.

Regular adhesion promoter, or "sand-free" adhesion promoter. Since you can't sand vinyl trim (without ruining it), you use the sand-free stuff. This will allow the paint to penetrate the panel and stick to it. Lastly, you put the top coat on. The 1st coat is normally applied when the adhesion promoter is still wet.
Motion started building supercars in 1966, and by 1968 was the #2 producer of specialty performance vehicles, behind the Ford owned and run Shelby GT Mustang operation. They created the "Fantastic Five", the SS-427 Camaro, Chevrolet (Impala), Chevelle, Corvette and Chevy II (Nova). Other players in this market were Don Yenko & Nickey Chevrolet.
For a custom paint/show paint use the PPG or equivalent. Regardless, its the prep work that'll make the difference in the final appearance. I only mentioned the Krylon because the level of gloss in the BBQ Black is very close to original and is a lot cheaper than the Eastwood and other formulas. This would be good for a non-show car.
