There should be an option up top to revert back to the old format if you're logged in. You can also put in old.reddit.com if you're not logged in to get the old format. For whatever it's worth, you can still opt for the Old Reddit layout if you prefer. Since they "forced" the sh.reddit version on me, I've gone back into my settings and re-enabled the "Opt out of the redesign" option. That's the only solution I've found that works reliably and doesn't require constant faffing with URLs.

OLD~OLD reddit or OLD~New Reddit? OLD~OLD: from address bar > replace "www" with "old". OLD~NEW: from address bar > replace "www" with "new".
Click on your profile, navigate to user settings and scroll down. You should see an option to "opt out of the redesign "click it and you should be reverted back to the old reddit layout. I recommend r/Enhancement for Reddit Enhancement Suite. I only use old.reddit, and it's beautiful.

If you directly click any Reddit link on a page after going back to old Reddit, such as clicking on a thread or another group, it'll open it up with the old Reddit format. But if you click on a reddit picture link, it'll open it up in a new format. That being said, some links will randomly open to the modern format. That's about it.
