I was nine years old in 1960 when I went with my mother and father to Mikimoto Island in Japan. (My dad was in the Air Force stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo.)

Here's the 411: - This necklace was purchased new 40 years ago from a small, trusted, independent jeweler in Manhattan's Diamond District. - Excluding clasp, the necklace is 26 1/4" long. - The pearls are 65 mm wide, smooth and have a pink cast to them.

    Is there any way to try to establish the value of an antique strand of natural pearls? I have a strand with 120 pearls, each about 6mm in diameter and just about perfectly round, the color of each pearl is a creamy white and the strand is about 28 inches long with a really unique little clasp marked "835" which is an older marking for silver.

    Majorica uses a variety of clasps; this type (with the mabe pearl) is one of their more common ones. Are you thinking of selling them? They are not real pearls and don't have a lot of value, but the brand sells pretty well on eBay, especially if there is the original box and the little booklet that comes with them with the Majorica guarantee.

The clasp is sterling silver. It has a pearls in the middle -- no Mikimoto mark. The box is red and says K., Mikimoto, inc.
