Northrise University was founded in 2003. It was conceived in 1988 through the experiences of its founders Doreen and Moffat Zimba. Born in Zambia, Doreen and Moffat suffered from the lack of education opportunities for high school graduates that still characterize their country. Moffat and Doreen left Zambia to attend a Bible college in Australia.

Mukuba University is a public university in Garneton (Itimpi), Kitwe, Zambia.The Mukuba University, formerly Copperbelt Secondary Teachers College (COSETCO), was established in 1974 by the Ministry of Education to train Teachers of Science for deployment in secondary schools around the country.

Its main campus, the Great East Road Campus, is along the Great East Road, about 7 km from the CBD.It also has the Ridgeway Campus also located within Lusaka City at the University Teaching Hospital; this campus houses students pursuing medical and pharmacological courses.
The university has two libraries, namely the Main Campus Library and the Kabwe Town Campus Library. The libraries run similar services. [ 4 ] The library at the Main (Great North Road) Campus, named the Friedrich Ebert Memorial Library, was designated a United Nations (UN) Repository Library in September 1978 when the institution was a college.
