The Minnesota Twin Registry was established in 1983. [2] Its original goal was to establish a registry of all twins born in Minnesota from 1936 to 1955 to be used for psychological research. Recently, it has added twins born between 1961 and 1964.
It includes over 86,000 twin pairs, making it one of the largest twin registries in the world, [1] [2] and it is considered to be representative of the general population of Denmark. [3] It includes biological data and repeated measurements from the same subjects, as well as information from other national registers in Denmark.
