The town is built on two basic plateaus between a hill and the Ohio River. The lower plateau, along the river, is dominated by a large industrial park, the Martins Ferry Football Stadium, and Ohio State Route 7 (a four-lane traffic artery that runs from north to south across eastern Ohio).
As of the census [5] of 2010, there were 471 people, 193 households, and 147 families living in the village. The population density was 112.7 inhabitants per square mile (43.5/km 2).
According to the 1930 census, San Toy was the town in the United States whose population had decreased the most per capita since the previous census (976 in 1920 to just 128 in 1930). [1] In 1931, 17 of the 19 registered voters voted to abandon the town. Today approximately 50 people live in the area that was once San Toy.
