Environmental Paper Networks score. Trader Joe’s store brand and Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value 100% Recycled both received A+ scores. Kirkland received an F. Someday I'd like to see Hemp toilet paper, much softer, stronger, highly biodegradable, 27,000 old growth trees get flushed every day. Hemp ready in a few months.
Love the Kirkland Mixed Unsalted Nuts, Kirkland Organic Canned Diced Tomatoes (way better than any of the brands in the regular grocery stores), Kirkland Organic Tomato Paste, Kirkland Marinara Sauce, Kirkland Quinoa, and probably many more. So far I have not found a Kirkland product I do not like. Yes, I am a big Costco fan.
Instagram caption: “With improved softness and thickness, the new Kirkland Signature™ Ultra Soft Bath Tissue is now available at select warehouses and at Costco.com.” Related post from September 2023: Is the new Kirkland Ultra Soft toilet paper better, equal, or worse than the regular Kirkland toilet paper?
Anyone notice the quality of Kirkland / Costco toilet paper change? With the last few bags I have purchased, the softness has degraded significantly, to where the texture feels more like a step up from paper towel -- not really even soft anymore.
I’ve liked Sams much better than Kirkland. So far they haven’t got worse. With regards to TP, I liked Kirkland much better than Sams but a little less than Charmin. Recently I got a small package from a relative, and OMG I realized how bad the Kirkland TP got! Will go back to Sam’s or bite the bullet and go back to Charmin.
The PT (paper towels) are still pretty good (as paper towels, not TP-substitute). It seems like last year, they made the TP rolls 2 mm more narrow, I had two packs of different size at the same time. This year, however, the change in their "2-ply" TP is very noticeable, it is so much thinner, more sheer.
The first thing the plumber did when he walked into our basement was check the shelves for our toilet paper bundle. “Yep! Don’t buy that anymore!”, “9 times out of 10 when I get a clogged drain call the people are using Kirkland Toilet Paper “.
With that said, Scott’s is also the worst from a sanitary perspective, as they essentially dissolve and breakdown while wiping, causing people to essentially take double the amount of toilet paper per cleaning than they would need using kirkland, essentially resulting in the same amount of paper used per “go” and a less pleasant experience.
Kirkland Toilet Paper NOW worse than ever! I’ve been buying Kirkland TP for 10+ years & was extremely happy w/the quality up until recently in the middle of the TP shortage. I’ve noticed that the Kirkland TP I ALWAYS buy is now the same quality as the Scoots thinnest & cheapest TP now!
(425 sheets*2ply ~ 1k 1ply - Scott you have to manually unroll to get a comfortable amount of toilet paper, Kirkland is easier) Lint wise, some people complain about Charmin over Kirkland, some people complain the other way around. Ymmv, could be regional manufacturing tolerances I myself would go for Charmin.
