The Orange County Library System (OCLS) is a public library system serving the Orlando area of Central Florida. Its main branch is the Orlando Public Library in Downtown Orlando. There are 15 additional branch locations. [1] As of 2025, the library system employed more than 450 staff. [2]
The library is an early voting polling place for the Orange County, Florida Supervisor of Elections. [5] The library's maker space, the Genius Lab, allows patrons to create various content, including 3D models, videos, audio recordings, and graphics.
The History Center is housed in the historic 1927 Orange County courthouse and home to the Historical Society of Central Florida’s collections. The five-story building was built for nearly $1 million by Orlando's first registered architect, Murry S. King. Construction began in May 1926, and the building was dedicated on October 12, 1927.
Meanwhile, the Public Library of Kissimmee moved from the original Hart Memorial location to a new 4,000-square-foot space at the corner of Broadway and Kain in 1968; in the early 1970's, the Veterans Memorial Library moved from its Massachusetts Avenue location to the old downtown Sunbank building at 10th street and New York Avenue in St. Cloud.
