TUI Airways has its origins in several rival airlines. Euravia (later renamed Britannia Airways in December 1964 [6]) was founded in January 1962. [7] Orion Airways, founded in 1979 by Horizon Holidays and later owned by the large brewing firm Bass Brewery and InterContinental Hotels Group, was sold and merged with Britannia Airways in 1989 but retained the Britannia name.

In-town check-in service is a service offered by some cities such as Abu Dhabi, Seoul, Hong Kong, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur–International, London, Stockholm, Vienna and Taipei, where passengers may check in luggage in designated places within the city but outside the airport. This reduces check-in time and queuing at the airport.

Neos was established on 22 June 2001 as a joint venture between two tourism companies, the Italian Alpitour S.p.A. and the German TUI Group. Revenue flights were launched on 8 March 2002. In January 2004, Alpitour bought all of TUI Group's shares, making Neos a fully owned subsidiary of Alpitour no longer affiliated with TUI. [7] [8]
