Alumni Park, is a private park owned by Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The park is a 30 acre expanse of trails, lawns, hills, ponds and coral trees. The 40,000 square feet ponds are considered open reservoirs of reclaimed water. [1] The park hosts an annual Waves of Flags display.
California State Route 1 runs through the park, where it intersects with the western terminus of the Mulholland Highway. The 2,513-acre (1,017 ha) park was established in 1953. [2] It is named for actor and conservationist Leo Carrillo (1880–1961), who served on the State Parks commission.
Adjacent to Malibu Creek State Park and within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, [2] it is situated between Malibu Beach and the Conejo Valley. It was created in 1922 after the Malibu Lake Club Dam was built at the confluence of two creeks. [3] The lake, and community of 250 residents [2] are private. [4]
