The institution was established as the College of Jefferson in 1830, and chartered in 1831. The first building was completed in 1833, and the inaugural class began studies in 1834. Operation of the institution was sporadic for a time. The building burned down in 1842, and a new building was erected on the same foundation later that year. [1]
Jefferson College Imperial is in Imperial, near Arnold and approximately 15 miles (24 km) south of St. Louis. [5] Jefferson College Imperial opened in 2010. The 20,000 square feet (1,900 m 2) building is located at 4400 Jeffco Boulevard and is home to the Law Enforcement Academy, EMT-Paramedic programs.
In 2010, the Jefferson Community & Technical College completed construction of the new $25.6 million Health Sciences Building at Second and Chestnut Street at its Downtown Louisville Campus. It is a four-story, 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m 2 ) instructional building for allied health programs.

The relationship with Jefferson College survived until 1838, when the Medical Department received a separate charter, allowing it to operate separately as the Jefferson Medical College.
