St. Joseph Plaza is an event venue in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, which formerly served St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, a parish of the Archdiocese of Newark of the Roman Catholic Church. [3] The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 8, 1980, for its significance in architecture and religion. [4]

Until 1991, it was an all-girls school and was named St. Mary of the Valley Academy (colloquially known as "St. Mary's"), but at the start of the 1991–1992 school year boys were admitted for the first time, and the school was renamed Valley Catholic School. In 1930, St. Mary's Cemetery was closed and the interments were relocated, mostly to Mount Calvary, and Central Catholic High School was built on the site of the old cemetery.
