The Journal of Herbal Medicine is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal that covers research on herbal medicines. It is an official journal of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and was established in 2011. The editor-in-chief is Barbara Pendry (National Institute of Medical Herbalists) and it is published by Urban and Fischer.

It was first established as the National Association of Medical Herbalists in 1864, and now has members worldwide. As of 2020 it is the UK's largest and oldest regulator of herbal practitioners. [1] The institute has over 600 practising and 500 non-practising and student members and is the organiser of the annual Herbal Medicine Conference.
The leaves are used as herbal medicine to alleviate cough and fever, pain, and general gastrointestinal disorders as well as to cure dermatologic disorders. Similarly, the fruit juice and oils can be used in the treatment of liver disease, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic wounds or other dermatological disorders.
