Interstate 71 (I-71) is a north–south Interstate Highway in the midwestern and southeastern regions of the United States. Its southern terminus is at an interchange with I-64 and I-65 (the Kennedy Interchange) in Louisville, Kentucky, and its northern terminus at an interchange with I-90 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Southbound Interstate 71 will be shut down “for several hours” near the Verona exit in Northern Kentucky due to a fiery crash involving two semis, according to Boone County dispatchers.
The crash was reported around 7:35 a.m., causing significant delays to traffic for most of the morning. Officials eventually reopened a single lane and reopened all lanes shortly after 12 p.m.
Kentucky is served by six major interstate highways (I-24, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-71, I-75), seven parkways, and six bypasses and spurs.The parkways were originally toll roads, but on November 22, 2006, Governor Ernie Fletcher ended the toll charges on the William H. Natcher Parkway and the Audubon Parkway, the last two parkways in Kentucky to charge tolls for access. [1]
