Mount Assisi Academy was established in 1951 by the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King.It has been located at its present address since 1955. [2]Mount Assisi Academy, a comprehensive, Catholic high school for young women, was founded in 1951 at the present provincial center of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King in Lemont Illinois.
In 1904, the Sisters moved the school to Lake Forest, Illinois, on the outskirts of Chicago. The now-defunct Barat College was founded in 1918 and the college and academy shared the large "Old Main" building. In 1961 the present name "Woodlands Academy" was adopted following a restructuring of the elementary and secondary schools.

Hales Franciscan High School (known simply as Hales) was a private 4–year all–male catholic high school located in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Opened in 1962, Hales was part of the Archdiocese of Chicago. After 57 years, Hales closed after the 2018–2019 school year due to low–enrollment.
